This Sunday, October 4, 2015, is World Communion Sunday. After the past week of witnessing the historic visit of Pope Francis, we have felt the sense of unity and the power that can come from such unity. On Sunday, all the Christian denominations around the world will join together around the fellowship of the Lord’s Table and join in communion.
It is fitting that we celebrate World Communion Sunday, since it began at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in 1933 and was endorsed by the National Council of Churches and began a worldwide ascent. It is celebrated by many, if not most, of the Protestant churches in the world.
During the service we will collecting gifts for the Peacemaking Program and you can find out more info here about the Peacemaking Program and the programs it supports.
