Our first meeting of Discovery of the new year was a time for us to reflect on where we have been and where we are headed. Take a look at a list of some of the activities, lessons, service projects, fellowship events, and spaces we have used.
Where we have been. Where we are headed.
As we gathered on Sunday, we thought about what stood out as real positives for us, what we want to stay the same, what we want to get better, and what might be new directions for us as well. Small groups engaged thoughtfully in discussion, showing incredible ownership of their experience.
It was clear that our work around issues of food (food waste and the impact on the environment, hunger in our own community) has been most meaningful to these young people. They are interested in continuing to learn more about what happens during the service, what is means to be Christian and Presbyterian, and how our own faith tradition compares to that of others in their communities beyond church. It is important to them to have a safe place to question and to be cherished for who they are.
