It is hard to believe that Lent is almost here but it is. This year we are going to kickoff our Lent celebrations with a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner on Tuesday, February 9th at 6:30 pm.
Shrove Tuesday is a tradition in which Christians gather on the night before Ash Wednesday, or the beginning of Lent, to partake in a simple meal of pancakes. The original name was shrive which means to confess, so part of the purpose of the meal is to gather and confess one’s sins or perhaps just to ponder the sins that have kept them from God.
On Tuesday, February 9th we will host our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner as we prepare for Lent. Then on Wednesday evening, February 10th, we will gather at 7:30 pm for our Ash Wednesday service.
