There really are no words to describe what we have witnessed in America over the last four days. The shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by the police were a stunning reminder of long simmering issues of race that we as a nation have failed to resolve. The subsequent marches in major cities demonstrate the anger at the continued killing of African-American men by police.
However, what we saw in Dallas last night is beyond explanation, for just as we can be outraged by the action of a very small minority of police officers, we are equally outraged at the cold-blooded murder of the police who have sworn to defend and protect us. No amount of anger can justify the taking of innocent blood, no amount.
