Thursday Daily Prayers

—Maundy Thursday—

MORNING PRAYER

OPENING SENTENCES O Lord, open my lips And my mouth shall proclaim your praise. Jesus said: I give you a new commandment. Love one another as I have loved you. By this the world will know that we are his disciples, if we love one another.

THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION Satisfy us with your love in the morning, and we will live this day in joy and praise. Loving God, as you have shared life and love with us, lead us to share ourselves, that in the giving of our lives others may recognize your love. In the name of Jesus Christ, who commanded us to love by his righteous example. Amen.

LORD’S PRAYER

DISMISSAL May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace  through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Bless the Lord. The Lord’s name be praised.

THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION I will call upon God, and the Lord will answer me.  Evening, morning, and at noon I offer my prayers, and the Lord will hear my voice.  Blessed Savior, at this hour you hung upon the cross, stretching out your loving arms. Grant that all the peoples of the earth may be drawn to your redeeming love; for your kingdom’s sake. Amen.

EVENING PRAYER

OPENING SENTENCES O God, come to our assistance. O Lord, hasten to help us. When it was evening, they sat down to eat, and Jesus said:  I tell you, one of you will betray me. The disciples were very upset, and began to ask him: Is it I, Lord?

Holy God, keep us in communion with you and in community with one another, that we may always be ready to eat at table with Christ. Protect and preserve us from all evil, and deliver us from the pitfalls of sin, that, ransomed and restored,  we may be loyal followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
