It was good to have members of Discovery together again during these summer months – for fellowship and for service. They were back in the pool for an afternoon picnic and swimming at Margaret’s house along with over 30 members of the congregation.
And on Monday they gathered again to bake 200 cookies!
Next week Lin Hall will be helping to make dinner for 100 men at the Mary Jane Enrichment Center. After receiving a donation of many pounds of chocolate and lemon chips from the food bank, she passed some along to us so we could bake them into cookies to accompany her dinner. The Discovery kids all brought an offering of one of the other ingredients of the cookies, and in two hours they produced 200 cookies.
Since we will not be eating this meal with the men at the shelter, we shared a few cookies with one another in recognition of the fact that we would never make for others anything less than we make for ourselves.
Other facts that we learned:
- There are 3 teaspoons in 1 tablespoon.
- How many 1/4 cup scoops of chocolate chips make 1.5 cups
- Once the wet ingredients hit the dry ingredients, don’t mix too much so the cookies with stay soft.
