We are pleased to announce that beginning in May, members of the GPC community will have the ability to continue further conversations with our friends and neighbors at Bethel AME Church in Ardmore and Beth Am Israel in Penn Valley.

During Lent, we began a conversation with Bethel AME Church about white privilege and race. We really were not sure where it would go but we have been pleased by the response. From this beginning, we want to continue Heart Conversations moving forward by having gatherings twice a month. We rejoice that through these conversations we have truly deepened our relationships with the members of Bethel AME and are laying groundwork for a strong partnership in ministry. We have yet to establish dates but expect to hold these gatherings on Wednesday evenings.

Also beginning in May, we will join with Beth Am Israel on Tuesday nights for a study of the Sermon on the Mount: The Jewish Perspective. The Sermon on Mount found in the Gospel of Matthew has been described by some as the Gospel within the Gospel. Historically, some view the Sermon on the Mount as a split from Judaism. However, unless we understand the Jewish ethics at the time of Jesus, we cannot truly appreciate what Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount.
