This year we will be experiencing Advent in a different way. While we will not be able to gather together in familiar ways, we can still celebrate this Season together.
We will be joining with Bethel AME Church (and perhaps others) to share daily in our Advent traditions. Each night at 7 pm a household from GPC or Bethel will have the opportunity to host an Advent Candle Lighting. Do not worry if you do not have an Advent Wreath or Candles, any candle will do. The devotional study will reflect on the work of noted theologian and Civil Rights activist Howard Thurman. (You can find the devotional materials here)
We will begin with a program at 7 pm on Sunday, November 29th when Dr. Harold Trulear, Professor of Applied Theology at the Howard University School of Divinity, will introduce use to the work of Rev. Thurman.
Each evening until Christmas, we will join at 7 pm to share in the devotions.
Much like our Easter Vigil, this is our way of gathering to mark the days until the Return of Jesus.
The sign up to host an evening can be found here.
